About Music Therapy
• Music Therapy is the clinical and evidence-based use of music interventions to accomplish individualized goals within a therapeutic relationship by a credentialed professional who has completed an approved music therapy program. (American Music Therapy Association).
• Music therapy addresses behavioral, physical, psychological, communicative, sensory, motor, cognitive, and/or social functioning.
What makes BSI unique
-
BSI’s board certified music therapists create music interventions specifically designed to encourage improvement in those non-musical goal areas.
-
For this reason, all music therapy sessions are unique to develop skills where there is a need and to enhance an individual’s abilities while utilizing an individual’s music preferences to increase motivation.
-
Those receiving music therapy services through BSI can expect ongoing assessment, treatment planning, and progress reporting to continue to address needs and develop skills.
-
Music therapy at BSI is provided in individual or group settings.
-
BSI was the first music therapy waiver provider in Northwest Indiana.
Funding
• Services are primarily funded through the Indiana Medicaid Waivers for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, contracts, and private pay.
• Insurance reimbursement for music therapy services may be available depending on the company and policy.
