DIAGNOSTIC EVALUATIONS
[Not accepting new referrals at this time.]
BSI provides diagnostic evaluations to identify or rule out a diagnosis for an individual. This analytical assessment includes completion of a developmental, medical, social, and educational history; an interview about behavioral concerns; completion of standardized and informal assessments; observations; and interactions with the individual. Information obtained in this process is used to determine potential diagnosis(es), provide appropriate resources, and suggest recommendations to achieve positive results.
Description of Services
Diagnostic evaluations are completed by licensed clinical psychologists, Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs), Licensed Mental Health Counselors (LMHCs), Behavior Specialists, or Behavior Therapists. All diagnostic evaluation providers, other than the psychologist, have a master’s degree and are supervised by a licensed clinical psychologist on site.
A brief report that summarizes the information presented is provided after the evaluation is completed. Common conditions evaluated at BSI include Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), anxiety, depression, and behavior disorders.
An intake appointment includes a similar evaluation and should be scheduled, rather than a diagnostic evaluation, when seeking behavioral health services is the goal.
Funding Sources
Diagnostic evaluation services are primarily funded through:
-
In-network commercial insurance companies, such as Anthem, Cigna, Aetna (i.e., Choice, Multi, PPO).
-
Medicaid (BSI accepts a limited number of individuals).
-
Private pay.
